BMW 1M Spare Wheel Solution
Discussion
All,
After an interesting, frustrating and time wasting incident with a puncture on the 1M last week, I need to think of a suitable solution aside from the useless 'tyre foam' gunk that is supplied with the car.
There are several options:
1) Buy the OEM Spare wheel - circa £300 - this will need to sit on the boot floor but is half as thick as a genuine wheel
2) Buy a spare rear or front wheel with tyre and again, keep it in the boot - this will severely affect boot space. Also, which wheel would work - will a front fit a rear hub or vice versa?
3) Any other M car wheel with tyre in boot
4) Take a risk with the foam
Any assistance or solutions greatly appreciated as I want to avoid what happened last time!

Had a puncture in the rear tyre of my E90 335D last Winter, not a screw or anything so minor, but a fairly large gash in the tread. I was late for the flicks, so I drove on the flat tyre for at least a mile (at walking pace)
After the flicks I started pumping the gunk/foam into the tyre and was horrified to see it seeping out all over the cinema car park . . . .
I stopped, and moved the car to ensure the gash was no longer at the bottom :rolleyes
I pumped the rest of the foam in and then proceeded to inflate the tyre. Despite the the size of the gash, the foam sealed it and held sufficiently to allow me to drive home, (10 miles) and it to remain inflated overnight, AND to drive the car to my tyre fitter the following day (approx 20 miles)
What was your experience with the foam/gunk OP ?
