Fifth Gear - car parts
Discussion
I work for Fifth Gear. We're after the most outrageous car part prices charged by UK main dealers; £100 for a short piece of rubber pipe, that sort of thing. Or, an electronic plug in component that's so expensive it might make a five/ten year old car uneconomic to repair.
Also, we're after the most expensive garage in the UK.
If you've got any stories please email or call me on 0121 697 1904/ian.bayliss@northonetv.com (we must be able to identify the part).

wait for the 200 relpies on "can you get me VBH's Phone number"
Most of the bits on the chim have actually been reasonable. in fact the tvr only fan belt that i had expected to be loads was less than a non dealer equivalent for the landrover...
the most outrageious charge i have ever had was 75 quid from an ex-tvr dealer in Cheltenham. I dropped the car off saying i think it has an exhuast gasket leak, can you confirm and let me know how much to fix. They spent 5 mins confirming it was a gasket gave me a quote to fix (200 quid) and tried to charge me 75 quid for the privilage !!!!!
cheers
G
p.s can you get me.........

Have you got a fax ?
I'll find out the details but the LED rear lights on one of the new Peugeot rag-tops are £2K a piece, I've been reliably told by a friend who's parts manage at the local Pug dealership.
I'm sure the insurance companies are going to be very pleased when <mcp mode>'er indoors starts backing into shopping trollies at Tescos</mcp mode>, seriously though it won't be long before they get very upset when any rear damage starts at £2K!

friend of a friend has a Mclaren F1 and wanted the interior door pulls changed from leather to carbon fibre not offered as an option so as a special one off from Wokings finest, wait for it........
£13500 for two door pulls.
And he paid it.
Was this a part that actually exisited before he ordered it or did he have to pay for the one off tooling (mould making) and the like?
