Where is the Park Assist box on my 996TT

Hi

Whereabouts does the control unit live in my 996TT ?

I am getting an intermittant problem whereby the beeping kicks in when in reverse regardless of whether there is an object in the way. I've cleaned the sensors and also had it hooked up to diagnostics which hasnt revealed anything so I thought I might try picking up a second hand unit on fleabay and try that

I can't answer the question - however, be aware that if it is a sensor it will only show the fault until the next time it works. I've had exactly this problem with my Cayenne.

I caught it once when it was failing - so I know which sensor it is (or at least, which one was failing that time). However - when I took it to 9E to have the sensor replaced, it was free of any codes even though I didn't clear them.

I suspect yours will be a sensor, but unlike most faults they don't seem to get permanently stored. If you go into reverse and it works - it apparently clears the codes.

I very occasionally get that. I live with it, no sweat. I don't normally drive very enthusiastically in reverse. Convinced it may even be due to the road surface, perhaps certain road surfaces bounce back a lot of whatever it is that gets bounced forwards

Thanks for the info so far....

When 9E looked at it last the fault was diagnosed as near side corner but to double check they swapped it with a working sensor but on re-test it was still throwing a fault with the near side corner. i.e. it doesnt appear to be related to a faulty sensor

Still interested to know where the box is if anyone can enlighten me ??

Looks like it might be the small black box sttached to the ecu under the rear parcel shelf, it's either that or under the seats or in the front boot but since the 996 & 997 are similar that'd be my bet....

It is under the left hand front seat.
