I like to know how many of us have had already trouble with their gearbox!
Mine broke in 5th gear while cruisíng with approx 70 mls.
A lot of bad rumble, gearbox out now, inlet shaft has a lot of play, so something
broken. Hope to make some photos tomorrow.

maybe to much torque from my 4.3!??

5th gear is a known weak part of the gearbox. My 5th gear failed on my Tuscan and if I remember correctly (it was 7 years ago) it was a circlip that broke. Im sure putting it into 5th before reverse did not help it as it was difficult to get into reverse without engaging another gear first just after start up.

The gear box was removed, repaired, replaced and I had £700 removed from my wallet.

I presume you will go to gearbox man? My mate had something similar, sent him his box and got a new uprated one, with enhancements and improvements etc.

My fifth gear went this year, just before Spa. Gearbox refurbed, new slave cylinder and clutch - one big bill frown

Yes as others say, 5th is an issue especially when doing v max then off the gas pull 5th off.
Never had this with my 4.3, but had 3rd rip its teeth off twice so really needs upgrading for heavy use

it looks like, it's had a angle grinder on it. Can you not repair your own box by putting in your own gears in.
Is the recon box garanteed?

Gear has done approx 30.000 mls, to make sure that next 30.000 will be faultless,
i choosed the safe way.
Yes 12 months guarantee, but not for overload failures.
I am not putting in only 5th gear new, because all this broken stuff has gone through
the gear already! And also new 5th gear parts must be paid.
So better to let specialist fix a overhauled one than me making eventually making a mistake.

I put mine into third instead for this very reason.

During the VERY little pleasure/time I had of driving my car, that exact gear went on the "new" gearbox...
