Window doesn't go fully up

Hi.
When I purchased my car, the drivers window didn't go quite all the way up by about 1cm, so water gets in and leaves it a bit damp. I've cleaned out the damp, but now need to get the window working properly, before getting it back out the garage on anything but a very fine day.
It's a 1999 Mk2 with electric windows. I have removed the door card to have a look and I can't see anything wrong with the mechanism. The only thing that seems like it might be causing the problem is pointed to on the picture:
It seems that the cable pointed to tightens a little when the window winds up, thereby pulling it under the black stopper on the door and possibly trapping it between that and the white stopper on the window. Looking at it, it seems that it probably used to clip in somewhere, but has pulled free. I did try levering it over the black stopper out of the way, but it seems a bit tight and I didn't want to break anything.
Is this likely to be the problem and if so, what should I do to get it out of the way (ie can I tug it a bit harder?). If not, any other ideas as to how I can fix the window please.

Very common problem - I actually fixed this around 4 days ago! I also added it to the "Common MX5 Faults / Buying Guide" at the same time!

This link has a youtube video which shows the fix. Just make sure you don't fasten the cable tie through the hole to hold the door handle on like I did first time!
Plastic clip that holds it snaps and you can't get replacement for only the plastic clip, so use cable tie instead. Also grease the window rails at the same time as often the grease will have dried out. From what I read benefit for white lithium grease is it wouldn't cause electrical problems if any gets on the electrics, benefit of silicone is not causing any rubber to swell if you get any on rubber. Stuff like WD40 will be too thin.

Great fix, thanks for that. I had to do it twice as first time I pulled tie too tight and window went very slow, but now it's quicker than the passenger side and goes all the way. Cheers Andyhttp://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=479201&...

I have to grease the driver side now (the passenger side went) as it's now going up a bit quicker too. I used a piece of cardboard to reduce overspray, and kitchen surface cleaner seemed to get the residual gease off once I gave it a wipe to get the worst off. Probably one of the easiest and cheapest fixes on a car!
