About to push the button on a deal for a new M5 & just want to be sure i'm getting everything within the deal i should be.

Is the 1200 break in service free of charge as it was with the E60 M5?

Also, are the service intervals variable & if so, what roughly is the mileage of these?

Thanks in advance.

Was told this can not be included in the deal - Dealers in the south want about £600 and a dealer in Suffolk £330.

1st service I believe can happen anywhere between 16-23k miles and will be a max of £380 from same dealer in Suffolk.

Thanks Ben. Is it also correct that Oil Changes need carrying out every 10K miles, regardless of service schedules & that the car doesn't indicate when these are needed? May have made that sound more confusing than i needed toosmile

So, 1200 mile service, then oil change at 10000 miles & then 1st proper service around 16000 miles, then oil change at 26000 miles & 2nd proper service at around 32000 miles?

They cocked up the service pack on my order so it wasn't activated - when I actually got quotes from my local dealer (Sytner High Wycombe) the running in service was £300 and the 15000 mile service was £250 plus £100 for a pollen filter. As mine is on a 25000 mile lease, that's all I'll need doing so have saved £350 over the service pack.

Wow.. Sounds expensive - I would be surprised if the car didn't indicate if it required an oil change...

Thanks.

So to conclude, the car will notify of all service requirements & it appears a myth about the 10k oil changes, just go by the indicated service intervals displayed by the vehicle?

As for the 1200 mile run in service, this is purely a negotiating point as NOT defacto included FOC & if charged it's around £300?

I was quoted £500 by Calterdon in Inverness yesterday for a 1200 mile service and they're usually slightly cheaper than anywhere else regards main dealers. Might be worth getting a quote from your local dealer just to be safe.

From talking with a number of dealers the price for running in service seems to range from £300- £700 depending on hourly rate.

I know some dealers will price match though..

Sytner High Wycombe are usually far from cheap but it was just under £300 with zero haggling. Can't imagine how anyone could charge double that!

NOPE buy the service pack at a grand, and all will be covered.

Not sure i'll see much value from this as my Contract mileage is 39000 & will only have the car for 3 yrs so likely to only have 2 services as well as the Break In. If i had the car for longer, the service pack would be beneficial, but for me it's only likely to break even at best.

I live in North West England so the rates should be far lower than silly Southern rates;).

40K miles you'll see 3 services.

1 run in £300-600
2: oil service @ 15Kish -> £350-400
3 big service @ 30Kish -> £800+

plus oil top ups which are frequent its a no brainer...

If you're buying a new M5, you should easily be able to get them to throw in the service pack for free.

I'd go for the service pack, who knows what main dealers will be charging in 3 years for a service!
