Just wandering really as a good friend now lives in NJ and mentioned the possibility of going so I was wandering just how certain the new street circuit is as a fixture for 2014 and when the dates will be set? It'd be fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends and see a GP race at the same time....

About 100% certain not to happen! Well if stories on Pitpass are to be believed, and in this case they probably are!

I have my fingers crossed. I live over the river in NYC and I've got mates just waiting to push the button on flights to come over for a race.

Sadly though, I have no confidence in anything I read from either party, so I guess we'll have to wait until the start of next season for the real answer.

With Russia, Austria and NJ coming along next year, that takes the number of races up to 22.

The teams are apparently dead against having more than 20 races, so to keep them happy, they'd have to either drop 2 existing races, or drop 1 existing and cancel 1 new one, OR keep all the existing races and knock 2 of the new ones on the head.

'Sources' have India as one to drop for 2014, whilst Austria is probably a cert, given the influence of Red Bull. So do we drop NJ or Russia? I'd put money on NJ going for a Burton.

I thought India was confirmed as going, on the basis it is at the end of the season, but for 2015 it will be at the beginning of the season. So it is a confirmed loss for 2014 but a confirmed certainity it will take place in 2015, isn't it?

Russia appears to be in doubt as well, however what has actually happened with building the facilities for the New Jersey race? I know its a street circuit so permament failities will be limited but if reports are to be believed there are significant street works needed to allow space the track, pits etc. So what is actually happening on the ground?

100% not happening.
Which is a shame - would've been an awesome weekend.

I think the whole thing fell through.
For a time it was looking good - but I guess who knows. Bernie uses these new locations as leverage in the bigger picture so it will depend on the politics of it all.

Written by Christian Sylt so soon to appear on Pitpass! His articles have to be read bearing in mind they might as well have been written by Bernie himself, and are therefore subject to Bernies politics!

So the article is either saying its over for New Jersey and its not happening, or is a shot across the bows of New Jersey telling them to get a move on. I suspect the former.
