1970s Ford radio audio in connection?

HI, I am taking my 73 Mk1 3.0 Capri to the Le Mans Classic next year and want some to have some tunes on the way down. It has the old original Ford AM/FM radio in it. Just wondered if anyone has any knowledge of getting a AUX input placed on old radios or if its even possible? Thanks!

Yes that is an option i guess but have heard that a lot of them are poor quality and dodgy signal, hence wondering if you can hard wire AUX inputs to older radio sets...

Yes, you can hard-wire a stereo headphone-type jack into any analogue radio, provided you are handy with a soldering iron and know what to ask for in Maplin.

The benefit of having an FM (and therefore presumably stereophonic) radio is that you don't need to worry about combining the stereo input into a mono unit.

Has it got a Blaupunkt Hamburg with the 6pin jack plug in the rear for the 8 track player as fitted to the Cortina GXLs? If you don't now can you take a photo and post it on here?

Hi this is the radio in the car. Im not sure what it is other than original! Not even sure if its FM. L/M wave only by the looks of it!

You may be surprised to hear that France has both FM and AM radio (including LW), although not DAB.
There's all sorts of music from hard rock to classical and lots of it is in English!

Oh Lovely, that's the Hamburg unit which will save you some money now, on the rear there's a 6 pin socket, pop on ebay and buy yourself this lead: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Blaupunkt-Car-Ra...

It basically overrides the radio operations to whatever is plugged into the end, so if you plug your phone in you can use your mp3 player, your FM radio and it even makes your radio handsfree.

I have a the Sanyo version which looks exactly the same but without the Ford badge in the corner fitted in my Cortina, I made a video a while back which gives you an idea of how it works.

Can someone tell me if all contemporary Blaupunkt units have this 6-pin socket? That would certainly explain why they are so pricey at the moment...!

Up until now I have only been playing with Radiomobile, Motorola and a Philips Turnolock.
