I have a 98 chimaera with the faded Rosso pearl paint work!

Has anyone ever successfully matched this paint, or is it a case that I will eventually have to have a full respray to bring the condition of the car up?

From experience, full respray without question.
I had a faded area 'fixed' on mine after about 6 years, and it always looked a patchwork quilt to me.
In the end, only a full respray would do.

I have seen a beautifully matched original rosso pearl car at Racing Green, but to be fair it had lived it's whole life under a blanket in a garage and had done under 20k miles since new, so the areas that had faded were minimal, and the original paint being matched was not badly faded at all.
It did however prove that the colour can be accurately replicated and blended.
Allegedly it is a much better wearing and fade resistant formula.

Depending on how fussy you are, you could get away with full spray excluding the 'shuts', but even the shuts faded at different rates, so getting a perfect match internal to external can be difficult.

Thank you for the reply! As I thought, the paint is quite good on mine, but I was thinking in the future it is something I would like to rectify!

I think I would be happy with just the body and leaving the door shuts etc as it would be cheaper!!
Hmm something to consider for the future!

I had a respray with Rosso Pearl a few years ago (about 2004/5?) at Christopher Neil.

Although it only needed back end work, they reckoned that the newer paint was less prone to fading and so a full respray would prevent problems in the future.

So I now have, apparently, newer paint that should fade at a slower rate.

Its fair to say it doesn't look particularly faded, but then you don't really see it happening, do you?
