Anyone on here have expereince of running a breadvan as a daily driver? Do they cope well with the day to day? Can they be left outside (not garaged)?

Thanks.

I owned one for 2 years and used it for a year on the commute - Kingston upon thames to Maidenhead - 30 miles each way.

Was absolutely fine.

It isn't fuel efficient and it requires a 6th gear but it only cost me in consumables.

Go for it.

I use mine all the time , great old cars , go on to z3coupe.com and ask there , though most of those guys don't use them every day .

50 litre fuel tank and 5 speed gear box means it is not ideal for motorway duties.

Loved mine but if it is a daily runner, left outside I would consider an E36 M3 Evo a better bet at less than half the price (and 6th gear and 66 litre fuel tank + stability control).

That said, a Z3 MC is a unique car that I would love to have again, ideally in S54 shape.

An S54 breadvan definitely has a place in the million pound garage for sure! Along with lots of other great cars and big v8!

I would be astonished if we see the likes of it ever again. It's when brand stretch in the m division was all about how do we make more interesting sports cars with the stuff we had as opposed to trying to create m everything ?

I love it.....

Thing is, you'll need two

One as the daily driver and one that you roll out of the garage/storage, polish, and roll back in.

I bought one from Northampton Bmw in 2001 when in was 6 months old. Had 6000 miles on it their ex directors car. Really loved it and now wish that I had kept it. They seem to be holding their price well.
Two things to mention... Get the Ac Schnitzer short shift its beautifully made and makes a massive difference to the feel of the gear change. Second, as already mentioned small fuel tank is a real pain.
All ready a collectors car.

I would absolutely love a Z3 M Coupe (S54). These cars have really grown on me with their looks.

Am I right in thinking these are essentially E36 M3 Evolutions with E30 rear suspension and a funky body or am I totally missing the ball park ?

Also I know the S54s are so much more desireable and collectible ....
But how different are S54 and S50B32 to drive ?
How do Z3MC S54 and Z4MC compare to drive ?
