Range Rover Discounts
Discussion

I can't believe that anyone would offer a penny off the hottest product in the market place. I'm sure that UK dealers are in the same position as we are.
Dealers in NY and Cali are charging a nice premium. (Rumour is $10k if they don't know you, $5k if they do. I've heard of larger amounts..) We won't do that but we have sold every FFRR, 14 RRS and Evoque at full sticker and our order book goes well into next year. Our first 3 (sold obviously) RRS's arrived last week and the phones lit up with calls from all over the country as soon as they hit our website.

I've had new Ranges before, there's a lot of competition in the 4x4 market, as a previous customer I would expect something off the list price.
I'm not directly comparing my Landcruiser with a new Range, but for example I got £5k off mine, that makes mine £30k cheaper than the Autobiography, and to be honest a lot of the price difference is purely down to the ridiculous number of gadgets on the Range.

USA is a whole different market, obviously.

Obviously not. I've spoken to UK dealers who are sold out further into the future than we are. Why would you expect something off the price of a product where demand way exceeds supply? You're a previous customer who drives a Landcruiser, your LR dealer owes you no "loyalty discount".I've had new Ranges before, there's a lot of competition in the 4x4 market, as a previous customer I would expect something off the list price.

If I order today I can get allocation for November, so they are not really that far into the future are they? I waited 4 months for my Landcruiser.I'm not asking for a loyalty discount, but the dealership does know me, they know I've purchased two new cars from them previously, I'm not a tyre kicker, but I do expect a discount on a new car no matter how popular that vehicle may be, I'll walk if I don't get something.
I got an exceptionally generous partex price for my discovery 4, so thats just a discount by other fiscal means. And very good finance deal. And a few freebies. But i am a loyal customer with plenty of previous. Chap off the street lucky to get an early build slot, let alone discount. I suppose it depends on the individual dealers allocation, but mine is a rural dealer and will sell less ffRRs than a London dealer one imagines.

I would snap their hand off at November. We're quoting 12months on both new sport and range rover now
I'm struggling to believe that any dealer has availability for November. Those slots have been allocated for some time and, as you point out, everyone is sold out well into next year. unrepentant said:

I've spoken to the 3 local dealers closest to me and all have available slots for November and one has a new autobiography for immediate delivery. I imagine its the London dealers that have long waiting lists, however I notice there are now a number of used cars in the dealer network, so imagine that discounts can't be that far off.
I'm shocked. Here in the US there are no cars and we're currently waiting for the next allocation and hoping it will cover orders we have for Feb / March. As far as used are concerned, there are cars on the market here but at a premium. I delivered the first 13 FF on Christmas Eve last year. It was $95k and change. My customer just sold it for $103k.....jontysafe said:
Yes there are waiting lists and no discounts but what you won't hear are the MYRIAD faults and the numbers of cars land rover have had to buy back on the qt.
What evidence do you have of that (hearsay doesn't count) because I have no experience of it whatsoever, we've sold plenty of them and I have not heard of any dealers here having issues. AND we live in a country with a lemon law and millions of lawyers....jontysafe said:

I don't really buy into that myth of all JLR products being horrendously unreliable, mine (3 in total) were all mostly reliable with a few minor niggles, my previous V8 Landcruiser had a gearbox go pop with 55 miles on the clock, so not everything you read about Toyota's being the most reliable 4x4 is true.I have absolutely no vested interest and no axe to grind either way. I can guarantee my sources are 100% reliable as well but I will not reveal them.
Personally I don't even have an interest in LR product, nothing sinister but just don't do 4x4.
Edited to add: reliability woes do not extend to the whole range. Freelander now very good apparently and same with disco (mostly). As mentioned above everyone has their problems.

...and not the RRS?? After all, the outgoing model is built on the same platform as the Disco.M
