Are there many options other than the ACT induction kit?

I will be retaining the standard plenum, but have seen some other cars with polished aluminium or stainless induction hoses up to the AFM.

Any advice?

Stumbled across them last night. Is that just for the 90' reducing elbow, or are you suggesting making everything up from them?

Need silicon hoses as there needs to be some flex and movement allowed from the natural rocking of the engine ....solid aluminium or steel pipes would fracture or keep popping off.

They sell the ally tubing and various different elbows of differing angles.

I think it will be quite easy to make up an induction kit of your own.

I have added it to the list of winter jobs!!

To save a few quid you could put a straight piece in then maybe a 45 degree bend and leave the air filter in this position ,shorter less bends.

One 90 Degree bend, One straight length and the best angle to get the air filter in that position .

do the ASH elbows come with the right size diameters and are the arms long enough.

Just ordered an ASH elbow along with a few other bits to try (just a colour thing really as I already have the ACT kit fitted). It measures up correctly (150mm legs) & should be here in a few days, so if you can wait I'll let you know, and try to post some pics !

If i was to change my induction kit I would up the diameter all the way through ,there is room to do it .

100mm all the way through up to the plenum reducing just before the plenum then a huge K&N air filter.

Fair point but wouldn't you still have the restriction of the AFM ? (unless you've already uprated it of course !)

I thought it was all about having the air available .

You can only flow as much air as can get through the most restrictive point ... if the AFM is the main restriction in the system and you increase the hose size and the air filter size but don't increase the flow through the AFM then you won't flow any appreciable amount more air (you may flow a tiny bit more but not enough to be noticeable).

JPW. I ordered the 73mm i/d elbow in silver as I wanted to try & match the stainless overbraiding I've done elsewhere under the bonnet (90 degree elbow at that diameter is too tight to overbraid !)Unfortunately ASH have e-mailed this morning to say they now only have black or white available so I'll either be waiting a while or look elsewhere, if not I'll abandon the idea for now as I already have the black ACT elbow fitted.

This might introduce turbulence as well which is something the smooth bore systems are supposed to reduce or eliminate

Note that the plenum/afm elbow is a different size each end e.g the ACT elbow, not sure about any others you might find.

The silicone elbow will be so hot ! that's why I insulated mine ,the guy who sells hose kits etc on classifieds sells a clip on silver cover made out of the same stuff used around the engine bay .
