My son wants to sell his Boxster S , it is in good condition but with 1/2 minor scratches on the bodywork but nothing major ,are these the sort of things that would be sorted out by a Detailer and if so what sort cost should he expect ?

Im no expert but i think it depends on how deep the scratches are. If its not too bad it should be able to be fixed by someone like Chips Away. If its really deep then it might need a respray.

Might be worth taking it along to a few local bodyshops and quote some quotes.

It really depends on the scratches. If they are very minor surface marks then polishing may well get rid of them.

Chances are though, if they are quite noticeable as a scratch, you will need to put paint on it, in which case, talk to a smart repairer.

Without seeing it, it's impossible to say but if you have a look on detailingworld.com you might be able to get an idea and find someone local to have a look.

I'm often amazed at the results they can get on scratched / scuffed paintwork that you'd (as a non-detailer) think would definitely need paint!

There's a world of difference in prices (and end product) between a bodyshop machine polish and a full detail. Expect someone to mop your car for around £100-£150, a detail can run into thousands...
Saying that, a good day spent on a paint correction can transform a car.

Very difficult to say without seeing the car but as a general rule of thumb if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail it's too deep to polish out so would need spraying.

Other than that a detailer could spruce it up in a day or possibly 2 to make it look its best.
