Cayman Gen 2 with Carrera Wheels

I wanting to change the wheels on Cayman Gen 2 (currently Cayman s 18") for some 19" wheels. Has anyone upgraded their wheels or currently have 19" Carrera wheels? if yes what is the ride like? if you have any photo's that would be great

I've never had 18" wheels on a Porsche but I can tell you the effects of 19". Views will differ, but in my experience it can depend on whether you have PASM. I used to have a Boxster with 19's and NO PASM and everyone else that got in the car told me it was a rocky ride.

Of course it's a different matter on a track, but most of us don't do track days too often.

thanks fella. yeah my car does not have pasm hence im concerned that bigger rim/narrow tyre will make the ride harsh but improve the look

I have a Cayman gen 11 on 19's and a boxster on 16's. Both are firm but in comparison to my previous cars they are much more comfortable. I have tried a new Cayman with PASM with larger wheels and the ride was superb, but it was difficult to justify the extra 30k.

yep they look nice lad. 19" wheels for cayman seem hard to come by. anyone got an idea of the best place to get hold of some (used)?

The picture of my car I posted on your wheel refurb thread has Carrera II S wheels on it the same as the black one above.

If this is the type of wheel you want there are two sets right now on EBay...not cheap though.

As for the ride...yes it is firm but it's not a bad as its generally made out, you get used to it.

Ride is fine on 19's in my opinion and I have a stiffer set-up with Cayman R than the S so you should be fine..

Please do.... My Chipex kit arrived last week & I have yet to use it.

I've got 19" wheels on my 987 with standard suspension, ride is firm but nothing to worry about. When I was looking to buy some said not to go for 19's without PASM but no issues really.
