I fly to Tunisia 2 weeks on Saturday and I have been cutting hard.

I'm now down to ~9% BF and hoping to be hitting 8% or less by the time I go away.

The plan, when I get back, is to go on a lean "bulk" and gain some more LBM.

But..... while away what would you do? Would you just go all out and not worry about it, taking full advantage of the all inclusive "benefits"? beer

Personally I know what I will be doing, just intrigued to find your opinions. I will be eating around my maintenance, I always instinctively go for good, high protein foods anyway so that isn't a problem. I will be throwing in a lot of swimming/ messing about in the water too.

This cut has been hard work and I am definitely reaping the rewards so i won't be going overboard, just enjoying myself smile

I remember on a cruise I did I leaned up massively because someone was there to cook me meals. It was literally a good kg of chicken a day with pasta all day everyday, gym twice a day and swimming in between.
Plus all the walking from stopping off at different destinations.

Equally when I did a week in tenerife before starting the gym I put 2 stone on from eating chips all day biggrin

banghead What a waste of a holiday. I'm not a big drinker (maybe one cider or single malt a fortnight) but I'd empty the bar out on that kind of holiday.

I'm going to Turkey in 2 weeks and although I expect to find and use a gym (actually going to check the hotel has one!) a couple of times during my stay... mine is also all inclusive... I shall be on around 5,000 calories a day minimum, probably more with the 'free' beer.

I can't fking wait! FEED ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is that a waste of a holiday? I'm not going in holiday to get drunk! I'm going there to relax and get away for a bit....

Haha!!! As tempting as that is I just couldn't!!!

Why waste all the effort I've put in this year to achieve what I want for just a week of gluttony.

I don't need to fill my face with crap and drink myself stupid to have a great time smile

Each to their own I guess

Meh, you can tidy up your diet when you get back... you've got all inc, so may as well (ab)use it... smile

I was going to try and give the bar tender some sort of tip or gift so we can get cocktails on the all inclusive.

I can also have a great time without alcohol or stuffing my face, but I can have an even better time if I do. biggrin

I've really struggled with this cut, normally I would stop at around 10% but want to hit at least 8% maybe lower.

Dont get me wrong I WILL be having a drink..... Mainly cocktails and spirits and will be eating well, just not going overboard to the extremes..... burgers, pizza, chips etc etc

Oh, ok. I only say a waste because for the price you pay, you get all the food and drink you want. I certainly wouldn't hold back (would mainly drink spirits and/or diet mixers) and lots and lots of meat. In other words, the more expensive stuff. Pretty much M/O for going to a Chinese buffet. Some people pile their plate with rice. WTF. 30p/kg in Tesco! My plate looks like an animal was hit by a truck. biggrin

Running/cycling/swimming IS relaxing for me so erm... both!

On the food and drink front, I have what I want but then I'm not concerned about weight or bf% and like my food, beer & wine. thumbup

Relax and enjoy your holiday. Unwind, let niggling injuries heal and let your body regain full strength for when you get back.

I agree, I find I always come back stronger after a break, just eat well.

I remember seeing a gym on the island when I was in the Maldives, anyone who was staying in the island could use it of course, and I remember thinking "who the hell would want to be in there with an island like this?". Now, I would want to be in there. While I'd probably loosen the ropes a little with regard to eating, if I was there again I'd take full advantage of unlimited chicken, tuna steak and various white reef fish. If it was a hard cut to get down to 8%, a week or two of hard drinking and eating whatever you want could have you looking puffy and bloated before the trip is over. If you work hard to get the physique you want for the holiday, presumably you want it to last the duration.

^^^^ exactly!!!

Plus I didn't just cut for the hols it just so happened it coincided with the end of my cut. I think I'll be going for a morning beach run just to keep things ticking over and for my own peace of mind!!! If I don't exercise at least 3/4 times a week I start losing the plot! smile

The reason people exercise whilst on holiday is largely psychological, because both the physical and mental sides of training are addictive. Further, periodisation of training that doesn't figure in holiday breaks and take advantage of them is not best training practice and anyway any weight you gain on hols will be just as easily lost. Any training you do whilst away for a couple of weeks will bring no long term benefit whereas the rest will. As stated, a wise person would build their holiday into part of their training cycle.

Same. I know three types of people who go to the gym; those whose actually enjoy exercising and the results, those who enjoy the results and endure the exercise for the sake of the results, and those who go to the gym for the sake of something to do but don't really push hard for any fitness or aesthetic results. I used to be in the third category, then I stopped going for a few years. Then I started again, and it suddenly clicked and made sense, and put me firmly in the first category. Frankly, I'd love to be able to do a work out in a top quality gym in a stunning foreign environment.
