VW PASSAT 2002 W8 SALOON TRIPTRONIC

How do I edit the title? as didn`t spot that
The number plate has gone to a standard font one as when I ordered it seemed a good idea but after a short time on the car I thought better of it.
As for driving it............like driving the fastest armchair ever. It is great in a straight line but it isn`t the sort of thing you can throw around bends to quick as it is a bit front heavy as you would expect....but then you don`t throw a four seat saloon into a bend without expecting some movement.
The four motion is good....but turn off the ESP and floor it and it can be a bit scary so best left on.
It is so quiet as well.......I was sitting in some traffic the other day with the windows down and I could hear the Prius next to me pull away with more noise than mine at low speed.
With the Tiptronic....not triptronic :-) it drops a gear or two when you floor it and as it is so smooth and quiet.....you can find yourself doing 100+ in a matter of a few seconds.
I am also looking at a 996/911 at the moment and when I drove that all be it a totally different car mine felt much more refined and much quicker.
Fuel on a run you can get up to 36mpg....but around town generally 19-20.
Will take some engine pictures later and post and see if I can take off the W8 engine cover/cap as well
Is a proper Q car........and so rare.......figures from VW direct only 163 ever sold and only around 32 from memory were tiptronic.......don`t know the saloon/estate figures yet though. And from some figures only around 130 left.....................so seeing another on the road is quite a rarity. I know that in Northern Ireland the police used them so the few that are there are all ex-police cars. Surprising when they retailed at in excess of £35000.......in fact my brother is in the motor trade and a VW freind of his said that they were selling so few of them that (163 over 2-3 years) that dealers were just taking orders in any colour combination you wanted as this colour combination is not in the sales literature as I have a copy of the brochures.
Oil changes are a bit of a pest as it takes nearly 9 litres of oil.......but as I don`t use it very often it doesn`t have to be done a lot. Otherwise german reliability/build quality makes it a very easy car to live with.

Any problems with the engine?
No problems what so ever.......is really bullet proof.......I always make sure when I start it that I never drive off until it has dropped to normal tickover (6-700rpm) that way then I know the nearly 9 litres of oil have moved around the engine for a while.
As for sound........is pretty quiet...but when you rev it it does sound quite close to that V8 burble but more subtle. Will try and get a video loaded up as well.
Pictures of the engine below but the plastic cover is so small as I had though even the silver part clipped off but this covers up more than I thought
