Why have Flybe stuck washing machine style energy stickers next to their aircraft's entrance doors? Do they honestly make any difference? "I'm terribly sorry, I can't fly with you today, this aircraft is just too un-economical in the climb"! Budget airlines aren't the best to start with, on Monday I felt like I was climbing into a Zanussi FFS!
It was introduced a few years back as part of their green campaign. Hell they painted an aircraft or two in some weird green, cloud like livery.
Not only that, but I think they were also trying to dispel the myth that their Q400 turboprop aircraft are dirty pollution machines rather than the modern aircraft they actually are.

You will probably find some Genius in Europe decided it must be done thinking passengers would notice and care, forgetting most people's reason for choosing a particular flight is that it gets them to their destination at a price they are willing to pay at a time that suits them, they don't look in the book and check if the A320 used by Monarch is better than the 737 used by Ryan Air.
It really is a load of rubbish putting these ridiculous stickers on anything substantially manufactured with Aluminium. Aeroplanes, cars you name it. Bauxite mining is possibly the worst form of mining for the creation of environmental damage. A cheeky bit of open cast in PNG or Jamaica?
For sure, it is important to reduce the impact on our environment, on our thirst for travel and 'goodies' but lets not pretend these stickers are more than lip service.
Besides, every time a decent volcanoes goes off, just one big one releases far more CO2 than man has managed to create in the past 500 years.
