I now have fitted an auto air bleed system on my 4.5. As soon as I get my car back I will post some pictures up but it's a fantastic job done by Ian at TvR.

No more naff air locks for me.

It's a rather nice bit of plumbing from all normal bleed sources back to the filler tank. No more air locks as your bleeds are always open to release air from your water system when you fill and when your running your car.

Price to follow but it's not expensive and works a treat.

This is one of the fitments that replaces the air bleed on the passenger side.

My system links all the possible air bleeds into the expansion tank. Next stage will be a small swirl pot added.

I've always suffered from water issues since buying my cerb. Always blowing water when you least want it to do but this simple first stage keeps everything flowing. The swirl pot will take it a stage further to its final stage. Ian at TvR has done this with T350s and its a known excellent addition, it's now cerbera time smile

It's a bespoke unit fitted to my car as a test but getting updated to add the swirl pot. Track v Road are the guys sorting the system out

Something is not working as it should. Didn't this car have a front end smash ,so its possible that the Rad has a small crack, rad's expand when it gets hot and is under pressure and starts to leak. When its cold the cracks close up so you may not see where the problem is.

How is the Pump? Is it pumping at correct pressure?

A car that runs 4 or 5 degrees to hot all its lfe can have its engine life shortened by some way! As long as you're happy I suppose but I would certainly not be and would have things checked to see why the coolant is blowing all the time as you will have localised hot spots that may in time lead to head-gasket problems.

The cooling system should not need this, it left the factory working so there's an under lying problem that's been missed.

Good luckbiggrin

The system puts the plumbing up to modern spec rather than one used 15 years ago. It's always been an issue with TVR when they where built which is why many use the upgrade on their S6 engines.

Luckily my car doesn't run hot according to the laptop but suffers from being a finicky bugger with how much water is in the expansion tank. With the pipework keeping the air vents open constantly it's easy to fill without air locks. The added swirl pot and fingers crossed a peep glass will top things off.

Ok, you said this is " bespoke unit fitted to my car as a test" but before you said its been used on some T350 cars, is the system on the S6 different to the V8 then?

I can see if there were non-return valve in the bleed points how it may help but without that it seems as though its just filling up the pipes ?

Guess its one of these strange quirky things, I work on diesel engines all and & never bother with this ,I'd just trace the fault because there is one there some where!

I had a 4.2 for a number of years & never had to much of a problem with heat/ pressure building etc.

The thing is with older car's you dont know how previous owners treated them. Some idiot in the past, may have mixed anti freeze pink& blue long term will form sludge & block returns. Worst of all stop gap methods to stop leaks in the rad etc, you just don't know. I would just reverse flow the bugger with soda, then check every small bore hose for blockage & keep going until I found why it was blowing out the water, if its blowing water its getting hot somewhere ,may not show on the laptop but the air pockets will cause them.

Dear Imamisery,

Never in my life have I found someone who more fitted their self-imposed name. Perhaps you have been snorting too much diesel scratchchin

You are full of interesting suggestions so, in order to appease everyone here, why don't you

and do them.
