I've got a matt red clio raider - unfortunately some inconsiderate bellend has left a scratch on the front left wing, looks like they've walked past with a bag or something. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any products like T-cut for example that you can use on matt paint??

Any help would be massively appreciated!!

I've had a few matte cars. Anything you'd normally use to polish out a scratch will make it shiny.

it's a very light scratch, not deep at all, and you cant notice it until you get very close, so i dont know whether to leave it or try something clever - there must be something out there for blending in scratches for matt paint?

Also a bit worried about leaving it exposed to the elements, although as it's not a deep scratch that shouldn't be an issue should it?

someone else may correct me but afaik there isn't anything to polish out scratches on matte paint work. You will need to respray that panel or touch it in

Best thing to do, talk to the place that did the paint job. I'm afraid minor scratches are a fact of life and matt paint (well the lacquer) is, as I understand, not as stone as then normal one. Certainly the case in other uses of matt varnish.

There should be something available, but matt paint is relitivly new so you may have to do some digging. If you do a search for them there are a few avalable on tinternet but I hesitate to give any links that might look like a recommendation as I know nothing about them. You'll have to do some research.

Other than that I'm afraid your going to have to accept that these minor scratches are going to happen on any car, but more so with matt paint.

Thanks for advice guys! Will take it to my local renault dealer tomorrow as it's not a custom paint job but actually factory finished by Renault.

don't polish or use cutting compounds, depending on how deep it is, try thoroughly cleaning and wiping the area down, I think it has to be a ph neautral shampoo. if not, as its a factory colour, get a very fine and good quality paint brush and touch the scratch up, other than that it will probs have to be resprayed.

There is no way to remove it other than to repaint.

Don't know if Renault has the same procedure as BMW & Merc etc who make you sign a disclaimer about not polishing matte paint?

If it's scratched it will need respraying, and as it's matte, it will be at least the full panel if not blending into adjacent panels too.
