I am toying with the idea of buying one of these for my next car. Has is cost you much in the 10 months you have owned it? How many miles do you do in it?
Looks great by the way.
Thanks, I've done about 3000 miles in it. Looks great by the way.
It has not gone wrong and, if I had not spent quite a lot on it improving the car, it would just have cost me 2 tyres and a track rod end.
I've gone off BMWs big time since my tiresome and boring E39, but that is lovely, especially in those colours. There's just something about the E31 that is sort of 90's excessive but super cool... well done!
Oh, and E31 buffs - there's a lady round here who drives a blue E31, regularly, usually with a couple of kids in it... it has four tail pipes, which look like they're meant to be there, so does that mean it's a V12..?? Very cool whichever it is, of course.

Square pipes will be a V12. Oh, and E31 buffs - there's a lady round here who drives a blue E31, regularly, usually with a couple of kids in it... it has four tail pipes, which look like they're meant to be there, so does that mean it's a V12..?? Very cool whichever it is, of course.

Cracking car OP....Get on to clube31.com if you're not already!
I drove all the way to see a car in Sussex yesterday with a view to part exchanging my 840, that I've had for 7 years.
Decided I couldn't do it and drove 250 miles home again! I think I have a problem...

That looks bloody sensational dude! I drove all the way to see a car in Sussex yesterday with a view to part exchanging my 840, that I've had for 7 years.

I used to not really like them as I was a big fan of the E24 and wished they could have made that forever instead. The 8-series has grown on me over the years though. Really cool now, especially since very few other cars have pop-up lights.
A friend of my dads who ran his own business bought an 850i and converted it to run on LPG so he could use it in the London congestion charging zone. That trick does not work any more though.

Fabulous. The first 8 series I every spotted was in hampstead on a very hungover Sunday morning. I was so excited at seeing the 850 that I barely noticed it was driven by George Michael. Insert your own Hampstead Heath, driving punch line here.........
Anyone want to buy my 840? Typical 850 owner!Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
