Cayman S exhaust question with Sport Mode

Hi all,
New to the Porsche forum and was wondering if you guys can help me out with a question around the Cayman S exhaust and the SPORT button please?
Whenever I engage SPORT mode, the exhaust note changes. If I was to buy an aftermarket exhaust would this effect how the exhaust works with and without SPORT mode on?
I guess what i am asking... is the SPORT mode change in the exhaust, or is it else where that just adds more gases to make it sound more throaty.

Yea, I do hear the opening and closing when i hit the button. I just wasn't sure if it was in the internals of the exhaust or if it was at the manifold it opened something up.
When i say "more gasses" I just assumed that whenever the flap opens somewhere, it just forces more gasses through the car quicker making for increased noise level from the exhaust.

In summary from your comments, My understand is that if I was to get an aftermarket exhaust, I would have the same exhaust note if the sport button is on or off. This is because an aftermarket exhaust would not have the flaps to open and close on different modes?

It sits centrally and is mounted on a little metal arm with a hole in (from memory). It's not at all difficult to do... I am not at all handy with the spanners as they say.

Hmmm I scrutinising like a Wheres Wally pic but cant see anything obvious. Can you get down under the car and trace a line up from the exhaust, probably not.
Hopefully someone else can chip in cause thats an odd one.
But do persevere as this mod is well worth effort if you like it always on, which most do!

No worries, will patch it back together again now. Thanks for having a look. Yeah just about to head up the road in it few a few 30s so will listen out for that.Hopefully someone else can chip in cause thats an odd one.

Strange - I didn't really hear any difference in noise between 30mph. It sounded throaty enough even at low speed.
Encase it makes a difference to anyone's thought process... mine has the Sports Chrono package and Active Suspension. Whenever i hit the sport button it actives both the sport mode and the stiffer suspension. I can then knock it back to the softer suspension by turning it off, but still keep sport mode on.
I want to check again when i get home if I can hear the clicking noise of the opening and closing of the exhaust. When i was driving yesterday (at very low speed) I found it difficult to hear the clicking noise.

I was beginning to wonder this but didn't want to day so without knowing a bit more...Not sure if you're aware but some have the sports exhaust tips but not the actual exhaust. Your manual should have a sticker inside with all the build codes for you particular cars options etc

I have 2 buttons, one for sports and one for exhaust.
I don't think you have a sports exhaust, as you have nothing in your engine bay or a PSE button.
