Evo is full of st...

E60 M5 does not have a feel for the road, blah, blah, blah... As if the super slow-witted steering box in the E39 does... Seriously... And before the E39 fanboys jump me, I do have thousands of miles in an E39 M5... And to even put the S85 with the S62 in the same paragraph. Oh, the sacrilege wink

I'm keeping an eye on E39 M5's as I'd like to get one eventually, after dropping in value for a number of years they do seem to be on the march back up again which is annoying ...

Yeah, it's not like they even had a chance to drive and compare them all, oh wait...

With regard to prices going up, the advertised prices may well be going up but these cars aren't selling for a reason.

Interesting the original M3 CSL review was slightly mixed I think by Evo but the CSL tested there had much much better brakes albeit aftermarket hence the higher placing ?

They also left out the M635CSi

They were doing proper M cars only, they explain that at the start.

Nothing wrong with standard CSL brakes for fast-road use

Many just felt it wasn't worth the extra money over the standard M3, or was too harsh for road use (shades of 964 RS there), or didn't get on with the seats, etc

??? What's not proper about an M635CSi, or am I missing an in-joke here?

In fact, I also consider the E12 M535i a proper //M-car too

Read the article from the start.

Obviously not available at the time but it's the same as how the M135i is not a proper M car.

Nope sorry, I still don't get it. Why do you think an E24 M635CSi is not a proper //M-car?

Here's the main reason I know it very much is:

Sorry, I don't want to come across as sounding arsey, but you do realise that the M635CSi is a proper handbuilt BMW M-division car from the 80s, with a further developed M88 engine from the M1 (the same as in the E28 M5)? In fact it pre-dates the original M3 and M5

Why they left out the M635CSi? Probably because they had two other M88-engined cars in the test already, and another M5 with the S38

or

Why an M635CSi isn't a proper M-car? I wouldn't bother as they would just tell me it is one

I was only assuming the case from the article.

I don't really care either way.
