Are 3 point harnesses still ok for iva ?
Can't see anything to say otherwise in the latest manual and when I spoke to vosa a few months ago they were happy with them but CBS say static 3 point belts will fail.I'm assuming that covers harnesses too ?
Who's right ?

If you are refering to a lap and diagonal then it must be inertia reel.
If you are refering to two belts going over the shoulders but ending at one fixing point then see below extract from section 31.

Note 3: A suitable single bolt fixing of adequate strength would be, for example, a bolt of at least 11mm (7/16") diameter of grade 8.8 (the grade may not be shown on a bolt produced for a seat belt anchorage). Other bolt fixings may be acceptable providing they are of equivalent strength. Two adjacent seat belts may be secured by one bolt. In this case consideration must be given to the additional loads on the anchorage.

In this case there is also a height requirement for that fixing point.

So in that case CBS have got it wrong.

Any more trips planned to Poland Dave? smile
I believe CBS are refering to a three point lap and diagonal seat belt as a fail which is correct.

This is what they say
"A recent iva revision has outlawed static adjustable 3 point mounting seat belts for the front seats.
3 point retractable are ok as are 4 point harnesses"

It's more a case of what they don't say. They don't say 3 AND 4 point harnesses are ok.
They have 4 point in their catalogue and point out they are iva ok.They also have 3 point but there's no mention of iva compatibility with these.
That's what's got me asking.
Seems I'm worrying about nothing then,so alls good smile

Is this true? Looking at the IVA manual via the web, I find that a static belt is ok as long as it's adjustable with one hand.

Look for section 31 annex 1

The table shows the minimum standard ie a 3 point retractable.
Note 3 below the table describes that type of belt.
Note 4 goes on to say harnesses are acceptable.

Yep - I get it now. Will have to get some inertia reel belts now, blast!
