Purchasing a E55 AMG w211

Hi all,
I'm on the look out for my next car and have taken a shine to the E55.
I have just moved closer to work which means I will no longer be doing my 100 mile a day commute. Instead ill be walking or cycling to work. So I am now in a position again to buy something that doesn't need to be sensible.
I have had performance cars before, with the most recent being the BMW e39 M5, and I have had a c220 CDI sport on a lease and now I want to combine the two and have a performance mercedes!
I did look at the SL500 but the reviews are poor and I like reliable cars rather than true money pits. I'm also very fond of being comfortable as well as capable and the e class seems to tick that box. The fact it's an auto appeals to me as I broke my left leg 12 months ago and driving long journeys can cause me a bit of pain.
I'm dead set on getting an 04 or 05 plate car, due to a mild upgrade on a few components. But have yet to have a look at one. There's 2 being sold not far from me, which I intend to go and have a look at. One of them seems higher specd than the other and ideally I think it's worth getting one with as many goodies on as possible.
Are there any mileage related issues? The higher spec car has 112,000 on it and the lower spec car approx 80,000
Was rust ever an issue at this sort of age?
If there anybody around Oxford or London I would love to have a look at your car and hear your stories and opinions.
Also I would be looking for a independent mercedes specialist to service and carry our all the maintenance on it, any recommendations local?
