Which Optician?
Discussion
ok I'm 41, don't wear glasses, but never had my eyes checked, and need to. So Boots the Chemist; specsavers; or some kind of little independent shop? I'm concerned I'm going to be ripped off / told my eyes are -3squillion etc when they're fine. I use a pc for work all day long.

I think (haven't checked recently) that as I use a pc all day I can get it free (I work for a London Borough). From memory it could be with whoever I wanted and it would get refunded, but I'm not sure on that. In which case I'd still have to decide where to get it done.

Sounds like a positively daft fear to me. You can always spend more on more expensive frames or lens treatments, but that's your choice. The opticians really don't have anything to gain by giving you a 'worse' prescription than you actually need.I use Boots (was D&A), was previously with Specsavers. No problems with any of them.
