Had the vantage a couple of years, coming back on the motorway, nothing serious,80 in 6th and the engine cut out, no warnings lights or anything. ste myself, coasted to the hard shoulder, took the key out and re started fine, drove home with no other issues. Is this another They all do that sir ?

When you eventually stopped were there any lights on the dash before you took the key out? Sounds like faulty ignition to me if you had total power failure.

Sounds electrical to me - faulty ignition is an option . You haven't had any work done in the car recently ? New battery ?

Do a search as some suffered intermittent random cut outs. I think one or two may have had fuel tanks replaced...but it was a while back.

How old is the car? Was the tank full?

Oh dear...

I'm one of the people who had this problem and ended up with a lot of work done by AML to fix the design flaw.

Have a look on here for threads on this.

Questions for you:
Model year?
Weather when this happened?
Fuel tank level?
Had you recently re-fuelled?
How long had you been driving?
Before you had the problem had you been taking corners in a spirited fashion?

Hi, I bought a 2011 Vantage coupe in Feb 2012 with 5k miles. A few months later it developed a recurrent habit of cutting out when coming to a stop at lights etc very embarrassing and dangerous. It always restarted however.

A couple of trips back to the dealer later, it required a rewrite of the engine management system from Aston HQ. this took 2 weeks to come and car was off road for that time. I was told that other cars from 2011 had suffered a similar fault.

I can send you pm with info as maybe your dealer can talk to my dealer. Hope you get sorted!

Thanks, I think! 2008 model' had put fuel in that morning but still half a tank, was serviced 4 months ago and no other work. On the plus point, just done the same trip to drop off my Nephew, in Bank Holiday traffic which was just splendid.. And no issues. Will chalk it down to experience, it will drive me mad otherwise. Thanks all

This is not the fuel tank problem.

You probably need the ECU to be reflashed.

This is no biggie - AMDS can do that in 5 minutes.

Good luck!
