I have an early Gaydon V8 Vantage, in Meteorite Silver with an Iron Ore interior, which i have owned for a year now. It's a great car but it came with the very firm, lacking padding? bucket seats. Not only were they hugely uncomfortable for me, i think they were to plain in style and in my opinion, lacked the luxury of the seats we were making when i was working at Newport on the V-cars. Because of that, i redesigned the seats and with the help of a very experienced trimmer, we remodelled the base area of the seats for more cushioning whilst retrimming the faces in Bentley type, double stitch, diamond quilting. This quilted theme was also carried onto the plain door cards. I have attached some pictures for other owners who may have an interest.
I'm sorry if some people may have seen the seat pictures before, but the trimmer did post pictures of the seats but they were withdrawn and he was not told why.

I have also attached a picture of the retrimmed door panel, now reinstalled.

Aha, wondered where that thread went!! It was possibly deemed as advertising by the mods, they're firm about it on here.

As I believe I said last time... I absolutely love them, this is a definite future upgrade for me yes

What sort of money are you looking at to get the seats & doorcards done?

Do you have any "before" pictures too?

They look fantastic!

I think that looks great, but I suppose that it's how they feel that matters.

It's a pity that there isn't a space on pistonheads for things that border on advertising but which are also of interest and something we would want to discuss the merits of.

When wee you at NP?

The seats were the standard 06 issue and after a small time of ownership, was contemplating selling the car due to the fact, they didn't suit me and gave me shocking back ache after half an hour behind the wheel. One one long journey to the coast, my right foot went to sleep, must have trapped a nerve.....
Sorry, to the forum moderator if the trimmers post broke the rules, it was not his intention. He was just replying to request from another forum member about the cost of the job.
I was at Newport form 1986 to 1990, i joined just after the Gaunlett/Livanos purchase and was the second member of the newly started Design Team, my direct Boss, being Malcolm Pearceson. [ He was probably one of the best guys on the "board" i have ever worked for]

very nice, I really like those

I must admit in my 2006 Vantage the seats are showing some wear too

2 of the major reasons I moved on from AM!

Glad I wasn't the only one who experienced these issues.

They were especially heightened on long (4 hours +) journeys.

I find my V8V the most comfortable car I've ever owned.... Even better than the Grand Cherokee and that's pretty plush ..smile

On the return trip from JLC, Ant drove all the way from Germany to Hemel Hemstead, with just 2 stops, one for food and 1 for fuel....

I then drove back up to North Shropshire...... Both of us commented on how easy it was to cover the distance in comfort...
