I have it in my mind that it can be retro-fitted, minus the wart and carriage clock.

Is sports Crono not just the clock on the dash?

No, it sharpens up the engine response too. IIRC it raises the level at which the rev limiter kicks in too.

Does it really do this? Details and numbers please....

Think so. Doing it from memory, haven't any numbers.

No this is not correct in the 7.1 GT3. The GT3 has both a suspension button and a sports button. the sports button set the engine remap / exhaust note and therefore you do not need the sports chrono as this only gives you a clock on the dash. In the C2s /4s the sports chrono is all incorporated into one button therefore you need chrono to enable the remap / exhaust note hike

Makes 20% sharper throttle response. However as Cunno mentioned not on GT3.

Chrono is more useless on the GT3 than other models. I have had two 997 GT3s with it (gen 1 and 2) and unless I'm mistaken all it offers on these models is a lap timer and some programmable options via PCM like door lock sequences (pretty random!). Based on my experience I'd be totally indifferent on a GT3 about this but on a turbo it offers additional features.

+1 Sport chrono does NOTHING for power/torque on the GT3.

Sports chrono in the 7.1 is literally just the clock plus the ability to alter a couple of settings in the PCM, one of which is setting a temp for the air con linked to key 1 or 2. Nothing performance related.

The sharper throttle response, slacking off the TC limits and exhaust valves opening at 3k rpm (instead of 4k rpm) comes by pressing the Sport button. PASM has a separate button as does TC.

So I would say, unless you like the clock, it isn't a big deal?

The sport button doesn't change the throttle response in either the 997.1 or 997.2. In the 997.2 in increases the torque by 35nm in the mid range and opens up a couple of bypass valves in the exhaust.

You are quite right, I must have been using artistic license or my memory is going?

I'm sure I was right on the other stuff though?

Sorry but I believe the sport button does change the throttle response on the 997.1 GT3.

It sharpens the throttle response, opens the exhaust valve 1000rpm earlier (gives a midrange torque boost), and increase the threshold for PSM intervention.

Not according to the Porsche brochure on the 997.1

I stand corrected. I must have been thinking about the Carrera.

Ive had two of them and it does not change the throttle response/map. It does change the torque curve but thats a result of the exhaust valves opening sooner. Dash wart is ugly and pointless, much preferred the car i had without it.

..Chrono clock looks nasty IMO, it's easier to clean the dash without it too..! get a VBox if that's what you need from a lap timer, automatic, and no need to pull sticks to get it to trigger, I had it on my 7-3 and only ever used it once, that was just to figure out how it worked..!

On a Burto, yes, it offers the over boost facility..!
