My Chimaera is currently for sale due to lack of use
I have been contacted by a potential buyer in Germany. The questions and approach appear genuine and he says he has booked a flight to come and see the car on Wednesday.
I have been asked to send a copy of the V5 prior to his visit so that he can organise "Border Insurance", can anyone with experience of this advise me please? I know a few people have sold their TVR's abroad.
(The potential buyer claims to be bringing cash with him.)

Hi, I did the same when I bought my S.
We left Belgium with one car and came back with two.
I insured the tvr in Belgium, took the ferry, drove to the first exit on the M3, checqued the S , paid it cash and back home (with not a single problem)
I think that's the best way to deal for you in england.

I sold a lotus to a German, he flew over, paid in sterling and drove away without any hassles. I can't remember the exact phrase but he did require a certificate of some sort - conformity? Maybe TVR don't have them? I had to ask Lotus themselves for it and it cost around £20ish.
Aside from that I scanned the service records and log book as well as the V5. There was some debate about proof of ownership - I think Germany has a different system. I just told him the V5 is as good as it gets.
Bit tricky arranging it, my German and his English wasn't so good, but the transaction itself was straightforward.
A lot of Lotus are heading to the continent at the moment, my friend just sold his to a final buyer in Austria.

The couple from Germany turned up as agreed, had a quick look first evening as it was dark and then went for a drive and detailed viewing the next (including putting on axle stands to see chassis) then agreed a sale.
He had cash so no problem I thought - anyone considering the same, ask your buyer to bring EUR100 notes or smaller, the banks/post office either will not accept larger notes or will only take them on a collection basis (at your risk for checking).
The Chim has now gone to its new home in Dusseldorf, the new owner e-mailed to say the car performed faultlessly on the 450 mile trip.
I followed him back to the nearest A-road and did think how good it looked and how great it sounded (better than from inside the car), unfortunately finances dictated the sale. Here's hoping I'll be back one day.
