I am struggling to remove the plenum chamber so I can remove rocker covers mainly to cure a bad oil leak but also to do some winter clean up. I have just got car and it needs some tidying. appreciate any clues.

You need to take the pop rivet off of the driver side of the grille and lift it up to get the plenum off. The bolts on top will release the top section of the plenum, there is a vacuum pipe that connects to the underneath of the idle control valve and the throttle cable will need disconnecting.

Hope this helps.

Or you could wrestle it off and bend the panel slightly. It will bend back afterwards. Why they did it like that who knows? Don't forget to refit the hose at the back.
