Exhaust Wanted!

Anyone got an exhaust system for a series 2 350i kicking about in their garage that they don't need and would like to sell. It's the single pipe system with the twin outlet pipes at the back. My car is an '89. It's a long shot.....

Is it the same as the Chimaera exhaust?

Mines getting a bit past it too. The centre box under the gearbox takes a real battering on all the speed humps round my way - the pillow type are the worst. Has anyone got or know of a different design of exhaust for the V8 that does away with the centre box to give a bit more ground clearance?

Local company quoted £400 for a pipe from the silencer back....seems too expensive.

Sorry Anthony I don't....it's the single pipe that exits on the offside with two outlet pipes. There are apparently two options for my year of car (1989) and mine is the one that the pipe crosses the back of the car around six inches from the rear valance......the other type was right against the rear valance of the car I believe.

Oh right - I misread your original post and I was thinking 350i with the twin pipes one going over each driveshaft.

Yours sounds more like the 400SE system where the pipe exits the box at right angles, then there's a joint and a single pipe goes over the nearside driveshaft then bends around and exits the valance on the offside.

Now - I definitely have one of these, it's a stainless box in good condition. I don't have the pipework after that (well only rotten parts of it).

Thanks Adam, that sounds like mine although I believe there are two types like this. One that sits right up against the rear valance and one that is about six inches back. Mine is the latter. Unfortunately it's the pipwork from the silencer to the outlet I need!

OK In that case I suggest you get some bits of pre-bent stainless off eBay and weld it up.

Keep the old flange mind, they are usually so thick they never give up, and are fairly hard to find cheap.
