SD cards speed - test

I was just about to buy another 95 Mb/s card but I watched this test:

and it does confirm my experience - there's really no noticeable difference between 45 Mb/s and 90 Mb/s.
I have a CF slot in my 1D so I guess that's what I should buy together with a USB 3 CF card reader, right?
What do you guys use?

I doubt the specs of the 1D would allow maximum possible speed for writing to a fast CF card.
USB3 card reader would be potentially handy for future proofing if you work with PCs. My USB2 card reader "seems" faster when plugged into a USB3 port, though I have not tried back to back comparisons. But then USB2 transfer speeds, if achieved, would be faster than most card/reader combinations actually deliver.
The rouble is it's not a straightforward test on a level playing field.

1D3 using both cards?
Difficult to judge in practical terms. I (normally) use mine with RAW to the CF card and some level of Medium jpg to the SD card on a 'just in case' basis. My regular CF cards are around 60MBs and the SDs 30MBs or better. I have older cards of less performance that I use sometimes. Fine for low volume shooting, less good for bursts of 10fps.
The 1D3 RAW files are a sensible size and the jpgs around 1 to 2Mb usually so performance it good enough to rarely hit the full buffer issue, though 10fps can head that way rapidly - about 22 shots total burst if shooting RAW.
My Sandisk USB2 cardreader works pretty well lbut does seems a little faster plugged into a USB3 connection. However that may simply be that the USB tech installed works faster for USB2 than previous machines could manage. Performance is rarely consistent or necessarily related to rated speeds for reading or writing.
Not to be taken as gospel and it relates to testing with a Nikon D800 (I think, based on the text).

If you check the cards offered on My Memory website I think they ALL have their claimed read and write speed ratings available. It can be quite interesting to read them. Basically, within a "family" model range the read and write speeds can be very different and, as a rule, the bigger the card capacity the more likely it is that the claimed rated read and write speeds will be close to being the same. (This is alsio true for SSDs - so no great surprise).
No doubt there are many other internet sources for similar information. Rob Galbraith (he of the "1D3 focus system does not work" claim fame) used to publish card and reader test results on a regular basis but he stopped running his blog about 2 years ago and went into teaching so the results may be a little out of date (if the site is still operational). Still interesting though. Card reader performance is not always consistent and can vary with the brand and model of card employed as well as how well it communicates with the host USB technology.
