Hi guys,

I have read the many forums on cam replacements over the years and need to replace mine as it is starting to rattle on my 400 Chimaera so this will be my wither job.

I want drivability round town with good tickover and a cam kit using a standard non adjustable sprocket set.

Can anyone recommend a cam that can acheive this, I have read about the MC1 but it is not clear that this will run successfully on the standard replacement sprocket.
I have also read about the TVR Power replacement cam kit as being ok.

If I can get a little more power with no trade off with drivability at the low end that would be great although not a show stopper either, I just don't want it to be less performing hat what is fitted currently.

Ideally I do not want to fit a vernier sprocket; double springs or pocketing the pistons any recommendations will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

MC1 is a straight swap for the standard cam, drop V8 Developments an email, they were very helpful when I was looking at this.

Hi Yan, long time no see, hope you are well fella. My choice would be either the TVR Power 885 or the Real Steel Typhoon. I know owners who are running these and who are very happy with them.

You coming out for the pub run tomorrow?

Thanks for the feedback guys it is much appreciated, trying to make the best informed decision is key, in the past in my previous Mini and RS days have have swapped cams several times to get it right (pre net days when research was via magazine articles). I have set up with Vernier sprocket/pulleys before but really wanted the straight fit this time, but as you say 14 degrees swing is huge so will consider the vernier route.
I will consider all 3 options and contact the suppliers as detailed, thank you for your advice.

My good wife would be most annoyed if I need to swap it again because I made the incorrect choice.

Matt - No pub for me I am afraid, I work near Heathrow every day now, but I will be at Blackpool, are you coming? It was great last time and helps warm the wife up for my cam purchase, water pump and powder coating all of the anncillaries whilst I am in there, keep her sweet.

I changed the rear springs tonight for heavier ones, it was tricky aligning the top wishbone bolt again, Robin popped over and we coaksed it back into place. I have lifted the car by 30mm as well so hopefully won't scrape at the speed bumps at Blackpool hotel.
