over the last months i have seen that there are more often cerbs sold (or bought) than being showed here by newbies. Does this mean that the the leave the UK?
or am i just completely wrong with my view?

No I reckon that a lot of people don't think they need to join in with fellow owners or just lurk as long as they find out what they need.

In my experience active forum is very much a mid life thing. There aren't many first owners who bother with forums then those buying late life when prices have bottomed out often seem to not bother either.

Not a hard and fast rule of course, but something I've observed in other cars over many years of owners' clubs and forums.

Of course many just don't bother until they need something and then you never hear from them again until the next time they want something.

From my own perspective, I lurked for ages before buying mine, and I only really post when Im confident what Im saying is right or makes sense....which usually means Ive fixed something myself or passed spanners to those that deff do know...(Tanguero, UKKID35, or M3John)

Most of my earlier posts were panicky and asking for help from the Cerb sages here and its only recently Ive tried to offer solutions or help based on my experience....and I certainly still consider myself a relative newbie to cerb ownership....my bank account however.....! wink

Here's my 2000 Speed Six, came from a nice guy up in Aberdeen about four months ago and now lives in Worcester.

Been having a few issues with the gearbox as some of my posts have demonstrated, but should be better than new all being well.

Frankly, I only really use PH for help and advice because I have little to nothing that's constructive to offer back that'll be genuinely helpful to anyone. But I do think that by starting a thread and attracting helpful responses, you're indirectly helping someone else that might have the same issue you have. Is the overall aim not to compile a comprehensive Cerbera database so as many as possible can be looked after as well as possible?

I consider myself a newbie too by the way - I've only owned a Tiv since January. I'm not sure where I wrote 1400 posts...

I really like this bunch smile

On some forums if I'm a noob I don't always post just lurk as you find a lot of the time you'll ask something and just get a barrage of replies saying "do a search" , "this gets asked a million times" frown Fwiw, I found the cerb forum pretty friendly but other PH forums can be like that..

I am a newbie having only purchased my Cerbera on the 3rd of June but have posted and contributed. I think some people do find the forums slightly intimidating as you are putting yourself in front of more experienced members who could judge you. If you have bought a car and a few weeks later your posts are all full of advice required you do feel a bit of a numpty with your purchase! lol
I am fortunate that I am a mechanic so fixing the inevitable problems are part of ownership and if my experiences can help others I am more than happy to share. The forum is a great resource which I have a look at before starting anything as most jobs and problems seam to have been covered.
I haven't managed to get to any local meets yet but did go to the Classic Car show at the Plum festival on Monday (yesterday) but was a little disappointed there was only 4 TVR's there including mine, does make TVR ownership feel a bit more exclusive though.

Had my Cerbera 7 weeks now smile

Im still getting to know it, and it's little 'quirks'. I'm also getting used to a bit of spannering myself. So far I have changed the front / side repeaters for clear ones and fitted some decat pipes. With the ACT sports exhaust it is now ridiculously loud! laugh Every time I venture out now has to be via the medway tunnel.

I have been wondering if there would be interest for a small informal gathering in North Kent sometime before the weather turns?

I know there used to be a weekly/monthly TVR meet at the Manor Barn Farm pub for owners of all TVR's but as the owner (was a PHer, Terry I think?) has moved on I don't know where, or if, everyone still meets up.

Also I thought I read it somewhere, that there is there a Cerb trip to Spa planned for sometime in October? Or did I imagine that?

Congrats on your purchase hope you enjoy I have just bought the Cerb back off my son who only had it for a about 7 weeks but needed some money for his business so I,am supposedly a newbie now, but had it 14 years prior to selling it to my son so know a little bit about it.

I,am in Iwade just down the road from you and I,am a member of the mid-south Kent TVR group, we are having a BBQ this Sunday if you want to join us or I will be going the Chatham car show next Thursday about 6.30 if you want to meet up and have a chat, I will probarbly be in the T350 though but don,t tell the others on here, drop me an email and I will forward to our RO so that you get emails of future events

Hope to see you soon

I bought my car this March and introduced myself to all with some very friendly replies smile As expected I've had a few teething problems and past posts have helped a lot but I don't have the expertise or knowledge to really get involved, and certainly couldn't offer up any advice mechanically. When I have posted asking for advice its been quick to come and I really enjoy the comments made between the more frequent users. Maybe us newbies should post more about what we're enjoying about our cars, I know I love mine!!

Bought my Cerb last week so I am a complete noob. Have posted a couple of items ( in panic and total confusion) This site is awesome and have had tremendous advice from other band of brothers -thank you. As time passes and I get used to the jargon I hope I will be in a position to give advice to others (further down the TVR ladder)
