I put a new battery in my car before it's MOT and it has packed up yesterday and won't hold a charge.

I bought the battery with cash but considering it was only bought in March surely it comes with a year of two warranty

what are my chances of getting either a refurb one or a replacement if i take the knackered one back to Halfords

There will be a sticker on it somewhere with the date it was charged before sale - Halfords will probably replace if for you even without your receipt if its failed within their warranty period. Or at least they did for me when my 12 month old battery went bad.

I had one pack in about a month before the end of the guarantee period. They had to have the battery overnight to test and needed some proof of purchase before they would replace it. Fortunately i still had the old bank statement with the purchase on. If you paid cash I reckon you're going to need the receipt.
