Oddly enough, that's exactly what sprang to mind!

What source are you using? If it is CD, older recordings tend to be better as they don't use compression, but leave the original full dynamic range. There was a discussion a few days ago on here, and Trevor Horn stuff got highly recommended, things like Welcome to the Pleasuredome (Frankie Goes to Hollywood) and A Secret Wish (Propaganda).

I have a pair of those, most things sound great on them.

The SACD version of DSotM is a good un, the DVD-A version of Tubular Bells 2003 is scarily fantastic quality.
