Only two places left as from today.
I never even heard of this venue, hope it becomes more popular given how close it is.

Same place Schnozz. I can literally look at it right now out of my window, regularly see various rally cars blatting up and down during the week! Surface is typcial airfield I think, might be the odd crack, lump, bump etc.
Interesting to see how they make the track though, will be a bit of an out and back type affair.

I've been around this place a couple of times on Road Rally's, once in daylight on the Yorkshire Revival, the faster cars were seeing three figures on the clock at times, bit scary when two were passing at a closing speeds of 200MPH.
Also did it at night on the Danum Road Rally in 2011, it's a big fast scary spot in the dark when you have to follow a sketch map and don't have much to get your bearings on!.
It's been a venue for Autotests and Autosolo's too.
It would work OK as a trackday venue I guess, if you like that sort of thing.

Not sure it is typical airfield to be honest. There is a wide strip of good Tarmac down the centre, most Airfields are concrete. Off that strip it's loose cinder like gravel.Interesting to see how they make the track though, will be a bit of an out and back type affair.
I think there were 'aprons' at each end which were wider and had broken tarmac on them. There is a 'tank trap' at one end too, not sure what it's for but you wouldn't go over that on a track day anyway, only us mad buggers would do that!
It's a bettter rally venue than it is a trackday venue I'm sure of that.

Hmmm, definitely going to sit this one out then but interested to hear of reports how it is. Was a bit, er, agricultural for that straight line run and picked up a bit of damage (to be fair, not the circuits fault but also lost my splitter at 140mph which put an end to my day).Interesting to see how they make the track though, will be a bit of an out and back type affair.
Would be interested to hear on how the circuit is laid out and the general state of the surface. Used to do the odd airfield day down south in between proper trackdays. Used to kill the tyres due to the surfaces but useful as a cheap half day just to play with settings and find some limits of breakaway etc. Be great to have something local to do similar.
Tockwith - other side of York for proper TRACK day fun. Cheap too. Arrive and drive possible. Resurfaced a couple of years ago with powerstation slag - so it is glass smooth. When you're done, hire the artic or the JCB and do some skidpan work too. Great fun! Ginetta kids mostly based there too. Good day out.

Should be ok for the 'Grale then, going to do a bit of testing on some stuff we've been working on. I tried to get AutoItalia mag there to kill two birds with one stone, but Phil Ward says Gassing Station | Yorkshire | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
