I would like to upgrade my stereo in my '67 Volvo 1800S.

So far I used the original Blaupunkt head unit with a smart ipod adapter cable.
The antenna was removed long ago, as I rarely listend to the radio and I could always use internet radio thru the iphone.
So I used the old radio solely to pass the signal thru a old, mono radio to the add-on loudspeakers.

Now I don't know anything about hifi systems and I would like your advice.

I got the following components lying around:

-Blaupunkt Toronto 420 BT
-Sinustec UB-3000 add-on speakers.

I would like to let the original radio in place (it's a smaller size than the new DIN sized ones and I don't want to cut my dashboard).
Install the new Blaupunkt under the dash and connect it to the Sinustec add-on speakers that I either install under the seats or under the dash.

Do I need an amplifier for this? How do I connetct these components as there are very basic cables from the speakers and the radio uses plugs.
There surely must be some kind of adapter cable, but I don't know which one and can't find one for that matter.

What setup do you have in your classic cars?

Classic stereo and classic tunes! Can't see why you'd want anything else. Your current setup sounds perfect anyway or is it the sound quality that's the problem?

I hear you! It somehow feels strange to listen to music from an era thats younger than the car. But then again there where times I was exactly half the age of my car!!

I have set my eyes on these RetroSound Radios (http://www.retrosoundusa.com/products/category/id/14). They can look very nice with the right front and buttons!
Altough they aren't exactly cheap...

Has anybody any experience with one of these?

I'm also looking for some decent speakers.

It's VERY hard to place them corretly, not messing up with an interior as beautiful as this:


I was thinking of placing them on the parcel shelf, somehow like this:


The carpets in mine are dark grey (and the leather is cognac) so I hope they will blend in better.

I would prefer something that aligns flat with the carpet. And preferably someting rectangular. Idealy I would place one single, rectangular speaker in the midle of the parcel shelf.
Does any of you know of such a speaker?
