Can anyone help me with the following;

Had a bit of a problem at the weekend, I hadn't driven the griff since Monday, the battery was fully charged so I went to start it and the ignition just clicked? I tried again and it clicked, I tried again and it roared into action. Everytime I start it it feels a bit dodgy now, does this mean the starter motor is on the way out?

Thanks for any suggestions.

imo - yes! it may continue to work for some time but "clicking" is usually the first sign that it is on the way out.

May be the starter motor but it would be more likely to "click" when hot rather than after a week in the garage with a full battery. Could just be a loose connection as someone else said.

Recon starter motor is about £250-£275 fitted I think

I think I've traced the problem down to the power from the ignition to the starter motor. Does anyone know what the ignition barrel is from?

Vauxhall Cavalier I think. Depends on the year. Mine is a 96, and that's a Vauxhall.

No tried a new ignition barrel and no luck. It is the starter, £250.00 for a recon sounds a bit steep? Anyone know anywhere cheaper?

I think the starter is off a Range Rover, so aave a shop around. I got an alternator for half the price of a TVR dealer, and that was off a Range Rover. No doubt somebody on here will confirm or deny this for you.

It's a bit of a special as most of the V8 motors won't fit cos they hit the exhaust manifold. A new small hitorque motor is around 350 but usually it is the solenoid and that can be done for aroud £100. Tower View seem to be cornering the market in this at the moment. 0208 452 6922. They also fit heat shields on them to keep them happy.
