Lost central locking key for my wife's 2011 Ford Ka

My wife has lost the key to our 2011 Ford Ka , were lucky that we have a spare key , however this is just a basic key with no central locking on it so we now have to unlock and lock doors / boot etc manually with the spare key , I rang Ford this morning and they said its over £200 for a replacement re programmed key , is there another cheaper way of getting a replacement remote key.

I don't know if it's the same sort of system, but on my works transit and my old fiesta, you could reprogram a new fob by doing a sequence with the brake pedal and ignition. My brother didn't have a fob for his transit and he used a focus key that got let behind when my father in law Pat x ed it, and he now uses that. Only does the locks Cos he never had a new blade done. From memory the focus was 2010ish. Is it the proper is or thefiat 1? If it's the fiat then maybe it won't work but if it does you should be able to get a new key off eBay and program that and get the. Blade cut. You could also try timpsons, I asked about a spare key for my mx5 and they said they could program it, but I still havnt got round to doing it.

Did you have any joy sorting out a key on the cheap?

I'm having the same problem at the moment and wondering if there is an other way to replace the key? I have found one at a local scrap yard for £20 nut I've no idea whether it can be reprogrammed.

Key needs re-programming, key and re-programming £230 at main dealer, had to get one done last week, expensive but not a fortune when you think of the hassle of selling the car without the main key.
