There was footage from an unmarked police vehicle following a speeding Elan in a link here..

However, Towman objected to me posting it on here...despite it being available to the entire world as it's on the driver's own internet site....so I've now deleted the link..

Street

forever driving has 'quoted' my original post, so you'll have to get it from his post....

Happy now Steve

What's with the field of view? 101mph looks like 30mph!

Actually, I drive that road every day, but I don't think I've reached 101 yet

note to self: must try hard

Go on, do him for 60.3

Did he have a rear-view mirror? A large Volvo or similar keeping up is a bit of a clue.

Nice video - a bit scary showing coming up to the roundabout at 70!

That is a PHer.

So anyway Streetcop, have you got anything to say about it or were you just passing the time?

I know that stretch of road. Think it's a 40 these days.

Must have been a slow day for them to nick him. Can't say he did anything particularly scary.

You said it! If there was no speedo in the corner, I would guess that was a 35mph chase. very weird angle

Sort of. It was on the Cat and Fiddle. He was straddling the centre line looking like he was eyeing up an overtake. I waited for a while but he didn't go for it so I flashed him, he moved over and I passed him and a couple of other cars.

Turned out he was trying to film my mate further down the road.

We then stopped in the next town and the plod car went sailing past us as they didn't see us parked up by the side of the road in two TVRs (great observation skills!).

They'd also called for a car from the other direction from which came hairing into town.

I went slightly week at the knees when a very stroppy looking copper came walking up the road to speak to us.

He whisked my mate off to view the video and didn't even speak to me. Guess my overtake must have been textbook

They tried a dangerous driving charge on my mate which got thrown out by the CPS. He eventually got done for crossing a solid line.

The video is amusing to watch Even the URL on the back of the car was just about visible

Anybody else notice that the distance counter did not stop at the same time as the time?

No, but I did notice they were whizzing round at 46/47 before they saw the Lotus

I must admit I don't think he did much wrong at all, other than getting court!

Streetcop, aside from speed limit issue, do you think he did anything dangerous?

I was passing the time a little....but the point I'm going to make is that the police did the driver at the lower speed as that was the most accurate speed check. They could have gone ahead with some of the earlier ones, near 100mph, but the bobbies felt the checks weren't good enough and cancelled them....

Certainly being 'fair', IMO

Err, where did it show the speed of the target vehicle was 100mph? I was under the impression that the Rh speed indicator was that of the police vehicle. I may be wrong though......................
