My puppy likes nothing better than chewing sticks, trees sones anything.

I was thinking of getting one of those hide type fake bones because that would keep him happy for hours.

He's not interested in his kongs. Only bites them for a minute then leaves them regardless of what flavour is on them.

Been reading that those Hyde type bones are not that good. Also saw some antlers which I know he would love too.

What's best to keep him busy for a while.

My dog gets the rawhide cigars and I attribute these to him having a great set of gnashers. Tried him on the Dentistix and he wasn't interested. Please don't leave your dog unsupervised with them though as they can be tempted to get greedy and try and swallow it in too big a piece.

With regards the Kongs, buy some potted sandwich filler type eg Salmon, Beef etc. Load up the Kong with it and then freeze it before giving to your dog. It will last a lot longer and keep him entertained for longer.

Try the Dentistix, but for additional work for the dog,buy the largest ones for big dogs- they last a lot longer.

It will keep your dog amused for hours, but take it away when it gets gnawed down small, it can easily get stuck in their throat, I think thats where there is some risk attached to them.

The other thing with sticks - Milo always used to chomp down on a stick when it got small. Consequently, biting through the stick at both ends. This used to lead to him panicking as he now had a bit of stick jammed in the roof of his mouth in between his big bitey teeth.

Lots of fun trying to restrain him whilst trying to remove said bit of stick.....

Yeah definitely. They are expensive, but not compared to the amount of dentistix, bones, rawhide etc they'd eat in the same time. Just watch they don't grind it down too small.

Antlers are great. Last ages and dont splinter. They look expensive but I think they work out cheaper in the long term.

Try cheap liver pate mixed with kibble in the kong. Pack it full then stick it in the freezer before giving it to the dog.

Not a fan of rawhide, breeder warned us if they eat them in large chunks (as ours is a greedy bulldog) then when it hits the stomach with combination of water can swell and cause problems.

I'd agree with this, but some dogs don't like antlers. Our lurcher will only take them if she's got nothing better to do, whereas our German Shepherd will chomp on his for hours. One thing that's noticeable, though, is that they both enjoy the flat kind of antlers!

Pigs' ears are good too. If you can get into Costco, they do boxes of 20 for about £6. If not, many petshops sell them. They don't last for ages, but they're good for chewing.

We've tried our Heinz 57 dogs with them, they just inhale them like they are biscuits. Two chews, and they are gone. Same with rawhide sticks, bones, ropes etc, just chomp chomp and they eat them.

Maybe pedigree dogs are more gentile, have better manners etc?

£20 for 6! That is very cheap. I currently pay about 75p an ear at our local farm shop.
I will have to check out this Costco!
