Worth pointing out that this Landy probably got crushed because it was effectively a ringer.

IIRC pre-89 Landy's are legal in the states because of legacy rules, so there is a strong market for older models that have been refurbed to newer spec. There is however a fine line beyond which the yanks deem them to be new vehicles and crush them.

Replating a new vehicle with an old vin is wwaaaaaaay over that line obviously!

Yep

yanks have got wise to that scam

to get in now they must be over 25 yrs old, on original chassis, no major mods(i.e. diesel to petrol etc) and be traceable on the LR system.

My contacts tell me the best part of a million dollars' worth have been sent to or are waiting for the crusher - ouch!!!!!!!!

TBH according to the Oxford English dictionary, JCB has achieved that iconic, generic status - like Hoover.

At least they didn't call it a bulldozer. Desk-driving bellends.
