can anyone suggest a simple way of getting the odometer to keep turning. It stopped at 18,899, so sent it away to s*****y cables, and they certainly weren't very speedy! - 4 weeks later I get it back for it to stop again at 18,999. It did move again after repeated tapping of the instrument, but not even that works at 19,999. Does it have to go back to South wales or is there an easier option???

Are you sure its the speedometer!!-and not a intermittent sensor connection, or a badly aligned sensor, Possibly the wheel gap is too big and needs adjustment. Sometimes taking the speedo out and giving
a tap on the back cures the problem.

Afraid its a TADTS. A not unrare problem. I'll do a quick search as cant remember the cures, but know some just start again after a while.

I'm afraid I don't know the cure either but mine did it to at 30k(29999 to be precise), cured itself after about 100 miles.
