Best Winter Tyres for 996 C4

Bought some 17" original alloys on ebay the other day in order to use with winter tyres. There seems to be a few makes available for the rim sizes and wondered if there are any opinions as to which tyre would suit winter driving (cold, wet, snow and ice) best.

I've got Vredsteins ready for the family wagon (Volvo XC90)which seemed pretty good last year and happy to use them again, but if there's any other option that would be better for the 911 then happy to consider.

I've used Vredesteins on my Cayman S with 18's for the last 3 winters and have no complaints whatsoever.

Found an evo/auto express review which suggests Continental are the ones to go for. Expensive but seem to deliver

Studded tyres are not permitted on public roads in the UK which is propably just as well given the state of them!

Dunlop Wintersport M3's are a good non N-Rated option. Work well. quiet. look good and have good rim protection.

Should be cheaper than Michelin Pilot Alpin.

In 17" 986 fitment I had to run H speed on the front 190kmph and V on the back 210 kmph - but don't consider that an issue...

is it a C4 or c4s? I have a turbo (had a c2) and ive got 17" winter tyres/wheels but theyre to small to fit over the bigger brakes. I used vredestein btw. I went for the balls of steel approach and used the same size as my summers 205/50 and 255/40.

C4 on a spare set of 205 50 and 255 40. I'm hoping these will work. Assume a c4s has the bigger brakes.
