ANPR, mobile units, and TC Patrol cars ALL OVER the place the last week. Nearly stopped me exceeding warp 8 on a few occasions. Stop spoiling my fun, and let me know what you're looking for?

They must have been tipped off that I was going to be in Essex on Thursday, so it was probably the notorious TripleS they were looking for.

Sorry if they cramped your style somewhat. I'll keep away again for a while. Hope that helps.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Hiya Gary,

Yes we're OK here, hope everyone else is too.

I had an interesting run back from Essex on Thursday, early evening. A rental car had been provided for my trip home, and while I was around Retford there was a spectacular lightning display away to the north. This included a very heavy deluge of large hailstones, and I'm surprised there was any paint left on the car. It sounded horrendous and made driving a bit tricky, but fortunately my two primary rules were maintained: 'Keep it on the road, and don't hit anything!'

BTW, I can't say I'm keen on all this unmarked car business though Gary. Bit sneaky, what? I don't suppose an extended range of discretion applies at such times? Just a thought.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Nope...discretion is the same..marked or unmarked..on most things...perhaps a following speed check with a marked police car might be the exception.

The unmarked car is a big advantage..

Last night we followed two up on a stolen motorbike until they parked on a driveway...where both were arrested..(after a struggle)...They never knew we were Old Bill, till we got out and surprised them..

Also, was able to follow a suspect car later in the evening without driver being aware. When the vehicle stopped we pounced...turned out he was twice over the legal drink/drive limit..

Yep..the unmarked car works a treat and the baddies hate it..

Oh yes, I appreciate it has clear advantages from your point of view, my only concern is the usual one about my little problems with speed limits. I guess I'm a baddie then!

Best wishes all,
Dave.

No doubt you and others on here will appreciate how pro-active in our patrols we were and in addtion to 3 prisoners, also recovered two stolen motorcycles..

Not exactly hiding behind trees with hairdriers, eh?

Yes fair enough Gary. That's all good stuff. Carry on along those lines.

It's just the fannying about with speed limit transgressions (as opposed to examples of dangerous driving) that bugs me.

Best wishes all,
Dave - a baddie?

But the good guys love them (I count myself as a good guy).

BTW, IMHO, anyone getting caught by an unmarked car deserves all they get. You doesn't need telepathy skills to spot the video recoding equipment, second mirror, usually debadged, usually no dealer markings, usually being driven fairly sedately with plenty of space around them, etc..

Unmarked cars don't trouble me but they do trouble people who have crap observation skills.

As you were, StreetCop.

eeek - where abouts in Essex - was a naughty girl on the A12 last week. Especially on Friday evening when all the North London Numpties were making their way up to Clacton for their half term break. Took advantage of the inside lane being empty on more than one occasion.

Well I appreciate a degree of quiet confidence, but you sound like a relative youngster, though I'm not sure as your profile reveals so little information, despite repeated enquiries in other topics.

For the time being you appear to be very sure of yourself, but I wonder if you will still feel the same after more extensive experience, perhaps in 20 or 30 years time.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

My apologies to the rest of you for my somewhat prickly mood.

What state was it in (before and after), and did they catch anyone?

Was found locked up and intact in Sunny Clacton. (keys taken from house).
No damage as far as I know, and I don't know about any arrests.
