The sidelight switch has stuck in the 'on' position so I have permalights.

Anyone changed them themselves? It' looks like the dash needs to come out and the steering wheel off?

Anyway, I'd like to keep the original look so does anyone have an original sidelight switch or a set for sale?

My Griff is being quite polite at the moment as it waits at least week after the last fix for something else to play up......Wife said I needed a hobby. thumbup

Yes dash has to come out to get to the switches, but the steering wheel can stay on, you need to drop the steering column down by removing the two mounting nuts under the column cowlings, the switches are cheap enough just watch out for the postage costs depending on where you get one from.

Before you start removing the dash make sure the switch is not jammed in due to the edge of the hole! Had similar with mine and it turned out to be a small ridge of varnish around the hole and the switch just got jammed! I very carefully cut around the edges with a fine bladed scalpel, once the excess material was removed switch operated like new. Worth a try before you drag everything out. If it is the switch they are available elsewhere other than the standard TVR parts outlets at a fraction of the price offered. Regards, Pete

Thanks for the replies, useful tip on the steering column.

I'm sure the switch has failed. It's a latching type switch and it moves but does nothing. At least it failed with the lights on!

Pete,
Do you have a link to a supplier if it's not a TVR specific part ?

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard, sorry for the delay in replying, have you sorted the problem yet?. Got my switches from a supplier called Waldonway, but have looked in the last few days and they do not semm to list them anymore! They only cost me about £4 each and were identical. I am sure others do them, shall look at a spare switch I have to ascertain the manufacturer. All the best, Pete

Manufacturer is Arcolectric, part No is C7050AFBB, only supply I am aware of is via USA so postage gets expensive and pushes price back towards TVR supplier cost

I am sure I saw a thread on here some time ago with a link to RS Components for these switches.

I ended up ordering from here>> http://www.clever-trevor.net/TVR/Parts_details/M02...

Not as cheap as £4 but now I know. If I've got to take the dash out then I'll be checking everything over so will no doubt find something else...........

Farnel supplied them also, they also have some very nice light push ones, I have these with alloy surrounds!

Whilst on the subject of switches, does anyone know where to source the heater fan control switch ('98 500), the push for on, push for off, turn for fan speed switch?

Thanks David - I think! Can you remember if you found the push button/rotary switch under 'push button' or 'rotary'? I'm afraid that most of the abbreviations in the lists mean f all to me!

Sorted the problem without having to take the dash out......(having bought the switch frown)

Built a dam of Blu tack around the switch and filled it with WD40. Left for 24 hours and the switch is functioning normally again. Much less hassle.....sorted smile
