Anyone used Performance Porsche near Halifax?

Hello All,

I have recently seen the light a sold up my TVR and bought a smashing 997.1 C2S which I am thoroughly enjoying.

I am a bit concerned about the whole IMS issue so have decided for peace of mind to just get it replaced. I have read much about the LN replacement and while looking for someone to fit one found www.performance-porsche.co.uk who are offering a replacement (not LN) for £500+vat. Obviously much cheaper than any LN based refit that I can find.

I called them up and they seemed nice on the phone if a little unsure about what it was they were offering... I asked if they warranted the new part and it went from 'err, I think so' to 'yep, 1 year' or 'maybe 2 if that's what LN offer'.

I looked them up on here and found a post from last year when they were obviously just starting http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=114... where they weren't vat reg etc.

Has anyone used them in the intervening year? We're they any good?

I have booked in for a couple of weeks time for the IMS and a KTAG remap and just wanted you guys opinion before I decided for sure to use them.

Just drive across to bolton and go to hartech - these guys are the uk experts imho.

Problem is, they don't recommend replacing the ims in situ, ie without an engine strip down. Not sure if they will do it though if you ask?

I believe that on the M97 engine you have to strip it to replacethe IMS bearing.

Did think about Hartech originally, but they charge considerably more for the IMS work as they use the LN kit...
I have an early engine that afaik doesn't need the strip down - I haven't read anything negative about having the 'in situ' replacement for the single row bearing... until now that is...
Still no-one who has used these guys though?.... getting a bit nervous!

Agree on the bores. Plan to run th car on DT40 to hopefully minimise the chances.
Have read about Revolution Porsche. Pretty sure they used to be something to do with Performance Porsche... Think it was a break up of management that sparred off the two companies.

I'll give them a go and feed back on how it pans out.
