Sorry all,
sure to be giving you all the "poops" with my all day constant inane questions....

Looking over images and I am more drawn to the old shape. What year did the shape actually change, and does that year involve the new T5 gearbox and PAS?

Also I was interested to see how many white cars were produced, which then had me wondering how many black cars were produced, cars with black interiors etc, is there a register available with all this info existing from TVR?

Thanks in advance,

Bez

To answer your question, the change from mark 1 Chimaera to mark 2 was around 97/98. Not all the bits changed at the same time. The grille changed earlier than the rear lights IIRC. And the boot hinges were concealed late 98 or early 99. My 99 is all mark 2, so 4 round Land Rover rear lights each side, spllt grille, all door handles and boot hinges concealed, boot opens vertically.
Mark 3 is about 2001 and has faired in headlights and Cerb or Tuscan seats (cannot remember which) and is rare.

They evolved subtly throughout the 90's TBH. There is 3 types of boot hinge for example....

OK all, that's brilliant, thank you,
read through the links, its all basically on the individual car and go from there...96-99 will be my searching years and await the right one.

Cheers,

Bez

Buy one with poor paintwork and have it painted in any colour you want .

For the Mark 2 there was also the change to the bonnet shape, particularly noticeable around the scuttle area where an increase in height meant the windscreen wipers were less prominent.

And removal of the black rubbing strip on the rear bumper.

And a change to the shape of the boot lid - more pronounced boot lip.

And of course, changing from back-lit to angled rear number plate.

As you said, changes were phased in. My 400 had the new front end, door openers, new rear end but with old style rear lights and number plate......

Well I never knew that (or noticed it looking at other cars at meets). You learn something new every day smile

Mine was first registered Jan '98 and has the splitter across the nose, concealed door switches, old style rear lights, back-lit rear number plate, but the longer/later lipped boot lid smile

Edited to correct spilling mistakes
