My wife is a bit of a petrol head & has owned this since 5k miles / April 2006. Now on 93k but had an (well several) engine rebuilds following radiator & oil cooler damage on the M42.

Been semi retired since July last year so gets used for fun & shows only. Car is a keeper. Last of the line Busso engined Alfa Romeo & very rare in the UK.

Got filmed for Fifth Gear yesterday so naturally, she was pretty chuffed, as was VBH after an extended non-track test drive.

Good points about the car are pretty much everything. The only bad points are the comical turning & the very hard unforgiving ride on UK A & B roads. Crash bank wallop scrape etc. On smooth roads it's excellent though.

Subtle upgrades are a slippy diff (first a Q2, now a torsen Quaife as the originals are prone to blowing at low speed when on lock), braided hoses, blue racing fluid & excellent upgrade Performance Friction pads for the 330mm Brembo brakes.

It also had a cat back Wizard / Unicorse replica exhaust fitted & sounds even more stunning as a result.

Keeps the Brera & Spider company smile

Cheers,

Simon

My wife drives our 2007 Q2 (yes 1.9 diesel frown which we've owned for 4 years ) I love it, but it drives me mad, fking seat release cable snapping AGAIN, constant squeaking of interior 'parts'...etc....etc

I'd love to try a V6, but our tractor engine does actually go rather well and gives us 52 mpg on a good run. I'd call it a 'keeper' but it pisses me off too much wink

There's a knack with the cable. Release the tension on the back rest before pulling the handle.

The only squeak on ours was the infamous rear hatch creak, cured by a knowledgable main dealer.

One problem is water in the passenger footwell. Drain hose related, compounded by lack of use.

Wife gets c30mpg on a run which is good.

Despite all the naysayers, our Brera is a much better day to day car. GT great on smooth roads though smile
